In the event of a fire, elevator shafts are like chimneys, vertically pulling smoke and dangerous gases into the building. The SmokeShield® Elevator Smoke Curtain, powered by our patented GuideLock™ technology, operates after each elevator cycle to seal off hoistway openings, effectively containing smoke and preventing its spread throughout the building.
Industry-Leading Smoke and Fire Protection
Strategically designed for multistory residential and commercial structures, the SmokeShield Elevator Curtain is an essential part of the fire protection planning process. Named the 2023 Best Fire Safety System by American Security Today (AST), its innovative design draws on our century-long experience of developing fire protection and safety solutions.
Smoke Containment System Technology
The SmokeShield Elevator Smoke Curtain works hand-in-hand with a building’s fire protection equipment. Complying with International Building Code (IBC) standards, it creates an efficient seal against smoke infiltration.
Curtain-mounted pressure sensitive switches allow first responders and occupants to open the curtain when needed. The curtain will automatically close and reseal after a ten-second delay, automatically reopening and resetting once alarms are cleared.
Customizable Design
Elevator smoke doors can be directly installed to masonry or drywall construction. Customize head-box and guide colors to complement your design and style. Or, install the headbox flush into the soffit with the guides hidden underneath the fascia for a more subtle look.
For a precise fit, our experts will tailor each smoke curtain to the specific dimensions of your opening. Elevator shafts measuring up to 12 feet wide and 12 feet high can be accommodated.
